Soils and foundation of Bayon temple Angkor Thom has been studied since 1994 by Japanese Government Team for Safeguarding (JSA). The main tower 32m in height from the base mound consists manmade fill 14 m thickness. was found as a simple shallow direct foundation. This is just like 10 story RC building standing upon thick sand without such deep piling. At present, structure based sandy shall lose stability dry season under monsoon climate South-eastern Asia. amazing mechanism, 700 years, identified unsaturated characteristics well compacted silty sand.
